I am struck by women who say that “all men are the same” or that “they are all cut from the same cloth.” I have never liked generalizations, and I feel that we should have the ability to recognize a great man for his attributes, and for me, these are:
1. That he makes you laugh
This is basic. A great man will always have the ability to make you laugh, especially in the moments when you need it the most. I cannot imagine a life next to a man who doesn’t bring a smile to your face.
2. That he looks you in the eyes
A look is worth a thousand words, and for the man beside you to look deeply into your eyes is something you should really value. When he does this, he is trying to see beyond you, to see your soul, to know you much more.
3. That he behaves like your best friend
I have always thought that your boyfriend should first be your best friend. He should make you feel that complicity that friends have and should give you the confidence to tell him everything.
4. That he motivates you and supports your decisions
You need a partner by your side who can motivate you in what you love, who gives you that helping hand so you can move forward. It is a great attribute for him to support the decisions you make and, of course, to be that person who helps you see beyond what you see, to be your grounding wire.
5. That he makes you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world
Let’s be honest, women are naturally vain and we like to dress up, so when the man we are with tells us we are beautiful, that a dress looks amazing on us, or that we have the most beautiful eyes… it is something that can melt us! As long as he says it from the heart because he truly believes it.
6. That he is a dreamer
Who doesn’t want a man who dreams alongside you? That man will never stop giving his best for your life to be better and for you to be able to fulfill many of your dreams together.
7. That he makes you feel safe
Many say that when we look for a man, we do so thinking of our dads, of that paternal figure we would like our husband to have, and that means we feel safe while we are with him and think that nothing bad can happen to us by his side.
8. That he makes you feel that you are his complement, not his need
There is a big difference between love and need. A man should not be with a woman out of necessity, but because he truly believes she is his complement. That’s why I am so against couples saying “I need you,” nobody needs anyone and everyone can live without someone.
9. That he expresses his feelings and shows them to you
That in addition to showing you with details and actions that he loves you, he also takes the time to tell you that he loves you, that he is happy to be with you, and that he can give you hundreds of smiles. He should have a balance between what he does and what he says.
