Baking soda not only helps you make fluffy cakes or is perfect for cleaning the house, but you can also use it as a home remedy for skin care thanks to its cleansing and exfoliating properties.
With just two ingredients that you surely have at home, you can brighten and tighten your skin with a homemade baking soda facial mask, in addition to helping you eliminate blackheads from your nose.
Baking soda has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and thanks to its gritty texture, it helps you remove dead skin cells, creating a light exfoliant to help remove blackheads. To use it, you don't need to scrub your skin; just apply it gently so you can exfoliate carefully without damaging your face.
Although some people simply use water with baking soda to make a mask, doing it with honey gives it a softer touch. Honey is naturally moisturizing, and baking soda is anti-inflammatory.
Baking Soda Facial Mask
You will need:
- 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of honey
Step 1: In a small bowl, mix the baking soda with the honey until you achieve a paste-like consistency. If it is too liquid, add more baking soda. If it is too thick, you can dilute it with a little water. You can also add one or two drops of lemon essential oil or, if you prefer, the juice of half a lemon.
Step 2: On clean skin, gently apply the mask mixture with your fingers or a makeup brush. Be careful not to scrub too much. Leave it on for 5 minutes. You may feel a slight tingling and tightness.
Step 3: Remove the mask with warm water and gentle circular motions, pat dry with a soft cloth, and finish with your favorite moisturizer. Use this mask only once a month, as it is a powerful exfoliant, and if your skin is combination, apply it only on the T-zone to avoid drying out your face.
