Clean food remnants

Never, ever leave dishes with food on them. Besides the fact that they can stain or absorb odors, food remnants can stick, making cleaning more difficult. At Kiwilimón, we have learned that it is much easier to keep the kitchen clean if we remove food remnants immediately after using something.

Choose sponges wisely

Not all materials work the same way. To wash non-stick utensils or glassware, a soft sponge is best. For ceramic plates, regular sponges work very well. Cylindrical or hard-to-reach dishes are perfectly cleaned with brushes. And when nothing else works, you can occasionally use a stainless steel scrubber.

Note: in Kiwilimón's kitchen, we do not use this type of scrubber because there is a risk of steel remnants being left on the dishes. If, after preparing a dish, the pans are filled with grease, we use Salvo®, the grease-cutting expert. Start with the cleanest

Yes, believe it or not, it's best to start with the easiest. By washing the cleanest dishes first, you not only clear the sink faster, but you also allow the dirtier plates to soak before scrubbing them.

Keep sponges and scrubbers clean

Do you know how many bacteria can be on the sponge you use to wash dishes? To avoid contaminating your plates, the best thing you can do is keep the sponges dry, remove all food residues, and heat them in the microwave for one minute at least once a week.

In addition to doing this, at Kiwilimón we wash the sponges with the same dish soap. Being so thick, we only need a few drops of Salvo® to create a lot of foam and leave everything spotless.

It's true that choosing the ideal sponge is super important, but the most important thing is to use the best dish soap.

TIP: How to choose the best dish soap

They may look the same on supermarket shelves, but when it comes to cutting grease, not all work the same way. If you find yourself using a lot of liquid or scrubbing a lot, it’s time to switch dish soaps.

To make things easier for you, look for liquid dish soaps since, besides leaving everything very clean, they are gentle on your hands. (If your skin is particularly sensitive, avoid using powdered or paste detergents. They can irritate you a lot). It’s also important to consider the product's efficiency, meaning how much you can wash with one bottle. The less product you need, the better for your wallet.

Use cold water for dairy residues
