The everyday processes of each week, such as washing, drying, ironing, among many others, can seem almost automatic due to how often we repeat them. The reality is that these activities are extremely important regarding the quality of your clothes and their lifespan. Today, we would like to share some tips from our friends at T-fal, a leader in innovation and technology in home appliances, on how to keep your wardrobe in its best shape for much longer.
Each garment has very specific care instructions according to the type of fabric used in its making. It is highly likely that the labels on your clothes provide care instructions that you should pay attention to in order to extend their lifespan. Here are some details you should look for:
- Garment color, whether it is white or colored.
- Color intensity
- Water temperature for washing.
- Washing cycle speed or whether it should be hand-washed.
- Use of certain detergents or bleaches.
- Exposure to sunlight.
- Iron temperature.
Perhaps one of the most important points is the type of fabric, as it will indicate how to wash, dry, and iron it. The most common fabrics are:
- Natural or organic fibers
- Artificial fibers
- Synthetic fibers
By using a high-quality iron that produces even steam, you also contribute to the care of your garments. What you need to know is at what temperature to iron, and here we have the definitive list of temperatures matched with their respective fabric types:
- Between 70 and 120º C for acetate, rayon, acrylics, elastane, and polypropylene
- Between 100 and 160º C for polyester, silk, wool, and triacetate
- Between 140 and 210º C for cotton and linen
We recommend using T-fal's recent launch: Ultraglide, the #1 iron in glide, with which you achieve perfect results thanks to its excellent steam distribution and scratch-resistant soleplate with Durilium technology. Here are some of its most important features:
- Can deliver steam bursts of 90 grams to eliminate tough wrinkles
- Provides vertical steam for de-wrinkling hanging garments
- Has a three-position automatic safety shut-off
- Features the Easy Cord System to keep the cord away from the ironing area
- With 2-in-1 steam function, just select the type of fabric and your iron will automatically adjust the steam.
- Includes a self-cleaning system and anti-calc rod, which filters any residues that may be present in the water you use for ironing.
