If you want to support the national and local economy, the best thing you can do is consume Mexican products, especially in case tariffs become a reality and a trade war breaks out between Mexico and the United States.

Mexicans are known for being supportive, and we always come together in difficult times. The imposition of tariffs by other countries is no exception, leading internet users to call for buying only products made in Mexico.

At kiwilimón, we also want to make our contribution and encourage our readers to support the national economy, so we researched which Mexican products you can support when you shop. Take note!

Products made in Mexico you should buy

If you are concerned about the potential increase in American products next month, here’s a tip: consume local! As much as possible, consume products made in Mexico, which are also much healthier and more environmentally friendly.

1. Mexican coffee
Supporting Mexican companies and brands is more important than ever, and in the case of coffee, it's very easy. Mexico is one of the most important coffee-producing countries in the world, so buy Mexican coffee from regions like Veracruz, Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Guerrero.

2. Amaranth
Amaranth is a 100% Mexican product that has many health benefits. This ancient food provides calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins A, C, B1, B2, and B3.

Now you know, instead of consuming bars full of colorants and sugar, make your own amaranth bars or alegrías, as they are more nutritious and you would be supporting Mexican products.

3. Chia
Like amaranth, chia is another ingredient of Mexican origin that should not be missing from your diet. It provides omega-3, calcium, and potassium, making it ideal for breakfasts, snacks, and even desserts.

This Mexican product is perfect for replacing processed foods filled with sugars and colorants.

4. Mexican cheeses
Many of the cheeses in supermarkets come from other countries, making them more expensive. If you want to save, opt for options like Oaxaca cheese, panela, Cotija, Chihuahua, and more.

5. Rice
Mexican rice is of great quality and is on par with that produced in other regions of the world. Additionally, this Mexican product is perfect for making Mexican rice, rice pudding, or even horchata water. Enjoy!

6. Chiles and spices
Say goodbye to spices filled with labels and preservatives and choose 100% Mexican dried chiles, which you can buy in markets. Plus, you can find spices like cinnamon, clove, anise, and more at your trusted market.

7. Mexican vanilla
Mexican vanilla changed the culinary world forever, and today it is a staple in the preparation of all kinds of desserts. However, to support the local economy, make sure that the vanilla extract you buy is from Papantla, Veracruz.

8. Ataulfo mango
The ataulfo mango is 100% Mexican, so when you go to the market or tianguis, choose this over other varieties. Enjoy it with chili and lime, in a mangonada, or you can even prepare a mango loco.

9. Tequila and mezcal
Support the industry and the local economy by buying tequila and mezcal, as both are Mexican products with designation of origin. Instead of consuming vodka, rum, whiskey, or bourbon from other countries, prepare a margarita or a mezcalina with a very Mexican flavor instead.

10. Mexican drinks and sodas
When it comes to sodas, it’s a good idea to opt for 100% Mexican brands like Jarritos, Boing, Red Cola, ToniCol, Jumex, and more. However, remember that due to their sugar content, it is recommended to enjoy them in moderation and don’t forget to drink two liters of plain water a day.

In these times of uncertainty, the best thing we can do as consumers is to support the national and local economy by buying Mexican brand products, as they often have lower prices than American products.

Finally, the issue of tariffs is the perfect excuse to reconnect with the ancestral culinary tradition we have in Mexico. Reconnect with our roots and choose Mexican products like beans, corn, amaranth, and more. Together we are stronger!
