Tips to Save on Vacation

The holiday season is a time of happiness and family, but also of expenses. Between parties, dinners, gifts, and travel, it's hard not to run out of money by the end of the year. But don't worry, there are ways you can save without missing out on the festivities and having a great time. Here are some tips to avoid starting the new year with an empty wallet while traveling.
  • Choose an all-inclusive package; it may seem more expensive at first, but eating out can increase your expenses by up to 60%. It's better to choose a hotel that covers meals.

  • Go to a less popular destination, as crowded places tend to be more expensive. Pristine beaches like Holbox, for example, are incredible and affordable.

  • Pay in cash. A very easy way to lose track of what we spend is by always paying with a card, so it's better to have cash on hand and keep your expenses in mind.

  • Flying midweek is cheaper than departing and returning on weekends. If possible, it has been proven that flying on Tuesdays is more economical.

  • The high season starts on December 10, so you can travel before this date and enjoy much cheaper pre-holiday vacations.

  • Eat like a local. This advice has a double benefit: if you seek to eat at markets and casual restaurants where you go, it will not only be cheaper than dining at restaurants, but you'll also truly experience the local cuisine.

  • Check which days museums and attractions are free; typically, on Mondays and the last Sundays of the month, museums open their doors for free, which can result in significant savings.

  • AirBnb is a website where, instead of booking a hotel, you stay in someone's home that they rent out at quite affordable prices.

  • Buy last-minute flights and hotel deals. It's good to plan ahead, but if you couldn't manage it, then go to the other extreme and wait until the last moment, as prices drop significantly to sell available seats and rooms.
Finally, here are a couple more tips. If you're traveling for the first time with your baby, here we tell you how to make it easier. And if you're planning to go to the beach, then learn how to look slimmer in a bikini at that link.
