Heat a pot over medium heat with the water and cook the tamarind until soft. Remove from heat, strain, and cool. With the help of your fingers, separate the pulp from the seeds. Add the tamarind pulp to the blender with the sugar and water, blend and serve in a pitcher with ice and orange slices.
