We give you the recipe of the classic croque monsieur to start your days with this delicious gratin sandwich with gruyere cheese, ham and bechamel sauce. The best combination between two soft and delicious slices of bread.

Ingredients

4 portions
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 12 slices Oroweat® buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
  • 12 slices Gruyere cheese
  • 8 slices Ham

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 220 ° C.
In a pot add the butter and cook until it melts, add the flour and cook it without stopping moving. Add the milk, season with nutmeg, salt and pepper, let it cook until it thickens and has the consistency of sauce. Reservation.
Spread some butter over a slice of Oroweat® buttermilk and then add a little béchamel sauce, a slice of Gruyere cheese, ham, more béchamel sauce, cheese and cover with another slice of bread. Repeat until you get 4 sandwiches with three layers each.
Place the sandwiches in a refractory oven and cover with béchamel sauce and more cheese.
Bake about 10 minutes or until gratin. Serve immediately.

PRESENTATION

Accompany with green salad.
