Gorditas Dulces de Maíz

These rich Mexican gorditas are usually found outside the churches, they are a delight of gastronomy, which you have to try. Its rich texture and unique flavor will enchant you.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour for tamales
  • 1/2 Cup of wheat flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1/4 of teaspoonful of baking soda
  • 1/4 of teaspoonful of cinnamon powder
  • 3/4 of Cup of sugar
  • 2 spoonfuls of vegetable shortening
  • 2 spoonfuls of unsalted butter
  • 4 pieces of egg
  • 1 teaspoonful of vanilla
  • 3/4 of Cup of Water tibia

    Preparation

    Sift cornmeal, wheat flour, baking soda and baking powder in a bowl.
    Add cinnamon, sugar and mix well.
    Add butter and butter and incorporate perfectly with your hands.
    Add the yolks and vanilla and incorporate.
    Add the water little by little until a consistent dough is obtained. Let stand for 25-30 min.
    Form balls of dough with your hands and flatten them a bit.
    Place them in a hot comal on low heat. They are going to start inflating and smelling rich, in that moment you have to turn them around and wait for them to brown. Remove from heat and reserve.

    PRESENTATION

    Accompany the gorditas with a cup of chocolate or simply as a snack they are delicious.

    TIPS

    You can make a variant with chocolate adding 2 tbsp. of chocolate powder and a little more water.
