Guatemalan Torrejas

These delicious torrejas are a typical dessert of Guatemalan cuisine, ideal to share in an afternoon and accompany a warm cup of coffee. Prepare them and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 8 pieces of shell of sweet bread
  • 4 pieces of egg
  • 1 liter of milk
  • 3/4 of Cup of cornstarch
  • 500 grams of sugar
  • 1 liter of Water
  • 2 pieces of cinnamon slit
  • 1 teaspoonful of vanilla
  • 1/4 of Cup of raisin
  • 1/2 Cup of sugar red

    Preparation

    Boil the milk with 200 g of sugar and a slice of cinnamon. When it boils add the vanilla.
    Dissolve the corn starch in cold water and add to the milk without mixing. Remove from the fire and let cool.
    Separate the whites from the yolks and beat the egg whites until nougat, then add the yolks. Remove the lid of the shells and fill with the previously made delicacy.
    Cover the shells with the egg mixture. Heat the oil and fry the shells. Remove from oil and reserve.
    Boil the water with the rest of the sugar and cinnamon. Bathe the torrejas with honey, decorate with raisins and sugar.

    TIPS

    Do not put the oil on high heat because it could splash and burn you.
