4 portions
  • 4 slices ciabatta bread, large, special bread for torrijas
  • 1 glass low fat milk
  • 1/4 glasses Marsala wine, sweet wine muscatel
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs, whole
  • 1/2 glasses honey
  • 1/2 glasses rose water
  • to taste sunflower oil, to fry
  • powdered sugar
  • cinnamon powder


Cut the slices of bread into 4 squares.
Take the wine and heat it a little in a saucepan.
Once hot add the sugar and mix until it is well dissolved.
Then mix with the milk in a dish and bathe the slices of bread on both sides.
Then leave them on another source to release the excess liquid.
Put in a pan to heat enough sunflower oil so you can put the torrijas.
Grab the eggs and beat them well. Pass each torrijas on both sides for the beaten egg.
When the oil is hot add the toast.
Let them brown on one side before turning them over.
When the torrijas have good color on both sides, remove them and let them drain on absorbent paper in a tray.
When all the torrijas are ready, sprinkle ground cinnamon and sugar cubes to your liking.
To give the sweet toast to the torrijas. Put the honey with the water to heat in a saucepan and when the honey is well mixed with the water it bathes the torrijas on both sides.
