Apfelstrudel or apple strudel is a traditional dessert typical of Austrian cuisine and southern Germany, whose origins may date back to ancient recipes from Byzantine, Armenian, or Turkish kitchens.
Phyllo dough must be handled quickly and kept covered with a damp cloth. Since it is a very thin dough, it dries and hardens when exposed to the environment.
If you want a slightly more caramelized flavor, I recommend adding some sultana or muscat raisins to the apple pieces.
