In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment or by hand, beat the butter, add the brown sugar and refined sugar until well integrated. On the same mixture, add the egg one by one and allow it to integrate well; pour in the vanilla essence, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix only until incorporated, without over-beating.
