Spicy potatoes, also known as patatas a la brava or papas bravas, are potatoes cut into irregular dice approximately three centimeters in size, fried in oil, and served with a spicy tomato sauce called salsa brava, which is poured over the potatoes while serving the entire dish hot. It is a traditional dish in most regions of Spain, usually enjoyed with beer or wine, served as a portion containing about a quarter kilogram of potatoes, or as a tapa or appetizer. The term "bravas" refers to the strength of the spice in this sauce. It is often considered one of the cheapest tapas due to the low cost of its ingredients and is also suitable for vegetarians.
