Try this delicious Mexican Steak Lasagna with flour tortillas and give a twist to this popular dish. A different version of the classic Mexican Lasagna recipe, made with homemade flour tortillas and a Mexican steak filling. This combination of two Mexican stews is innovative and perfect to share with everyone at home. Ingredients

10 portions
  • 4 cups wheat flour, for the tortillas
  • 1/3 teaspoons salt, for the tortillas
  • 2 teaspoons Rexal® Baking Powder, for the tortillas
  • 1/2 cups butter, for the tortillas
  • 1/2 cups vegetable shortening, for the tortillas
  • 1 cup Water, hot, for the tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 cup white onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups tomtato, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cups serrano pepper, cut into slices
  • 3 cups beef steak, chopped
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cups fresh coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 2 cups asadero cheese, grated
  • 1 cup red sauce
  • to taste avocado, in slices, to decorate
  • to taste fresh coriander, to garnish

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. (356°F)
For the tortillas, in a bowl mix the flour with the salt, the Rexal® baking powder, the butter, the vegetable lard and the water. Knead until obtaining a homogeneous dough. Let stand for 15 minutes.
Form a ball of dough and on a floured surface, extend to form the tortilla. Cook on low heat for 3 minutes, or until tortilla puffs and is cooked on the inside, turning once halfway through cooking.
Heat a pan over medium heat with the oil, cook the garlic and onion until transparent. Add the tomato and serrano pepper, cook a minute, add the steak and season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes or until the meat is cooked, ending with chopped cilantro.
In a cast iron pan or pan, place a base of flour tortillas, spread with beans and place a layer of the Mexican steak, cover with cheese and bathe with red sauce, repeat the process until filled up. Cover with a last layer of flour tortillas, cheese and bake 10 minutes. Serve with fresh avocado and cilantro.

PRESENTATION

Bake and serve in a pan, garnish with avocado and fresh coriander.
