Chicken wings are an excellent option for friends and family get togethers, plus this appetizer is easy to make and budget friendly. These crispy chicken wings loaded in a mouthwatering BBQ sauce with hints of chipotle and Whiskey truly deliver!

Ingredients

10 portions
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cups chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1/2 cups raw sugar
  • 1/4 cups honey
  • 2 tablespoons old style mustard
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce,
  • 1/4 cups apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cups whiskey
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 kilo chicken wings, skinless
  • 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cups cornstarch
  • oil, for frying
  • vegetables, cut into sticks (carrot, cucumber, jicama)
  • Ranch dressing, for serving

Preparation

For the BBQ sauce: Heat a small pot over low heat. Add butter, once hot add ketchup, puréed chipotle, honey, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and whiskey. Stir occasionally, until incorporated. Add raw sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, and cook for 5 more minutes.
In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
Heat oil in a heavy skillet over low heat. Fry the chicken wings until fully cooked. Pat the fried chicken wings dry with paper towels.
In a bowl, pour the BBQ sauce and the fried chicken wings. Toss to coat.
Garnish the BBQ chicken wings with parsley and serve with vegetable sticks and Ranch dressing on side.

TIPS

Soak the chicken wings in a marinade of milk and paprika for a more tender and juicer meat.
