Chutney is a jam used in Indian cuisine. The jam takes a delicious touch when combined with chili and ginger.

Ingredients

10 servings
  • 2 Red apples
  • 2 green apples
  • 1 piece of onion finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups of brown sugars
  • 1 Cup of Apple vinager
  • 1/2 tablespoon of red chili flake
  • 2 spoonfuls of fresh ginger chopped
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 spoonfuls of lemon juice

    Preparation

    Peel and cut the apples into cubes.
    In a large pot mix all the ingredients including the apple.
    Place over medium heat and cook for about 1 hour or until the apple is tender and the juices are thick. Get out of the fire.

    PRESENTATION

    Store in a jar for marmalade and serve on a platter for marmalade.

    TIPS

    Chutney goes well with Indian food but can also be used for breads, cheeses, chickens, etc.
