Before preparing homemade ketchup, you need to sterilize a recycled glass jar for storage.

Place the jar in a pot of boiling water, completely covering it and ensuring the opening is not facing down, then place the lid (with which you will seal the jar) and keep in boiling water for at least 10 minutes. Remove the jars, drain them or place them on a paper towel, making sure only this comes into contact. Set aside. Prepare the ketchup: pour the tomato, onion, red pepper, and garlic into a deep non-stick pot or pan over low heat. Cook until the tomato becomes puréed, and if desired, you can cover the pan to speed up the cooking time. Cook for at least 15 minutes, stirring constantly.
