A survey published in the Journal of Women & Aging indicates that only 12 percent of the surveyed women (about 1,700) were satisfied with the shape and size of their bodies.

The surveyed women, all over 50 years old, were mostly (88 percent) at a proper weight. However, even among the 12 percent who were satisfied with their bodies, there were some complaints. 56.2 percent had complaints about their stomach size, 53.8 percent about their face, and 78.8 percent about the condition of their skin.

To be satisfied with our bodies, it's not just about going to the gym or maintaining a healthy diet. The real change lies in our way of thinking. Analyzing the results of this survey, Joan Chrisler, a psychology professor at Connecticut College in New London and a specialist in weight psychology and eating disorders in women, believes that women should treat themselves better. This includes getting enough sleep, exercising, eating well, hydrating the skin, buying and wearing the clothes that flatter them the most, and even getting a massage from time to time. “Many women don’t treat themselves well because they are disappointed with their bodies,” she states. It's time to change that behavior!
