Step by Step

Clean the mushrooms with a paper towel or napkin; not with water.

Cut off the earthy part of the stem.

With a knife, make a cut through the middle of the mushroom and then cut that half again. This will give you 4 pieces of mushroom.

If you prefer the mushroom in slices, cut lengthwise; that is, cut vertically.

Repeat until you have the desired amount of mushrooms.
