May 19 is World Whisky Day, that rich international drink that originated in Scotland and was consumed by people as an antidote when they suffered the loss of a loved one. Now, whisky drinks are enjoyed to celebrate life, and so much so that its name, originating from the Scottish Gaelic Uisge beatha, means "water of life." In case you don't know how whisky is prepared, we show you how it is enjoyed by those who love it most in a roundup of the best whisky cocktails.
If you enjoy strong flavors like coffee, whisky and cream drinks are definitely for you; that's why we invite you to try Irish Coffee, created by chef Joe Sheridan to delight the palate of his diners.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of coffee
- 30 ml. of whisky
- 6 grams of sugar
- Whipped cream to taste
Mix the whisky with the sugar in a glass and flame it for about 30 seconds. Slowly add the coffee and whipped cream and serve immediately in a glass.

Manhattan
One of the most recommended whisky cocktails among experts is the one made with whisky and sweet vermouth, the main ingredients of this delicious cocktail created by Dr. Lain Marshall in 1870.
Ingredients:
- 60 ml. of whisky
- 30 ml. of sweet vermouth
- 2 dashes of Angostura bitters
- Cherries for garnish
To prepare it, simply mix the whisky, vermouth, and bitters in a glass with ice. Stir well and garnish with a cherry. Its refined flavor will delight you.
