After spending almost 3 months in quarantine, one of the things we undoubtedly miss the most are garnachas. That’s why we can’t stop imagining the glorious moment when we will taste them again, and thus we remember the 10 Mexican snacks we miss the most.

Market Barbacoa

Having breakfast early on Sundays is not the same without some delicious barbacoa tacos accompanied by a good consomé with lime and salsa. Definitely, barbacoa is one of the Mexican snacks we miss the most.

Al Pastor Tacos

The al pastor tacos are THE quintessential Mexican snack, and although we also miss tacos de suadero, de tripa, and de enchilada, there's no way to fill the void of some delicious corner al pastor tacos, with their pineapple and tasty salsa.

Chicharrón Gorditas

Another classic of street food are the chicharrón gorditas, usually filled with some stew like steak, carnitas, or suadero, and accompanied by cheese, salsa, and onion. Aren't you craving them?

Banquet Tortas

Cuban tortas, Hawaiian, roasted, or also known by extravagant names of female artists like La Tatiana, La Gloria, or La Yuri, banquet tortas are a necessary Mexican snack to try after quarantine.

Carnitas

Nothing beats the succulent aroma that emanates from a giant copper pot, safeguarding the delicious pork carnitas, fried in lard and ready to be served in a tortilla with onion and green salsa. What delicious garnachas!

Pambazos

The Mexican pambazos, that tasty street snack so similar to a torta, can be filled with many stews, but the typical one in Mexico City is marinated and accompanied by potato with longaniza, lots of cheese, cream, and lettuce. We also can't wait to taste them again.

Basket Tacos

These sweaty tacos were faithful companions when we needed a quick bite in the city, as we could find a stand on every corner. Without a doubt, basket tacos are a street snack we are dying to eat again.

Esquites

Although cooking homemade esquites is not complicated at all, the experience of lining up in front of the cart, choosing the size of your desired cup, observing the sacred preparation ritual, and making the most important decision, with spicy chili or without spicy chili, is something we all miss.

Tamales and Guajolotas

How can we forget those mornings when we would line up to have a green tamal or sweet one, or asking for it to go inside a bolillo to enjoy our guajolota with a delicious champurrado. The classic office worker breakfast!

Fried Quesadillas

Another of the Mexican snacks that abound on the corners are the fried quesadillas, which can come with cheese or without cheese, and that doesn’t stop them from being extremely delicious. Which one do you miss the most?

We are getting closer to tasting these delicious Mexican snacks again, but in the meantime, tell us, which are your favorites? Have you tried cooking any at home?
