Bretzel Croissant from Pastelería Alcázar
As a true bread lover, I am always trying new options to add excitement to my life. This time,
Pastelería Alcázar surprised me with its new version of croissant: a
bretzel croissant. WHAT? Just as you read, this version, also known as "Laugencroissant," is a hybrid bread between croissant and bretzel that combines the best of both worlds: a crunchy crust with the characteristic flavor of the bretzel and a flaky, soft interior typical of the croissant. Although this product is common in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, in Mexico City it can only be found at Alcázar.
I recommend you go try it at the branch on Aguascalientes 98, in the Roma Sur neighborhood, because it has been recently renovated with a touch of elegance and sophistication that makes it a perfect spot for a romantic date or a good chat with your friends.
Cost: $120 on average (Bread + American coffee)

Ahumados Pelican
Ahumados Pelican has been operating for several years in the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood, but I just visited them. As soon as you enter the place, you are enveloped by a carefree vibe and are captivated by the eclectic smells and decoration.
I recommend ordering several appetizers, but what I liked the most were the wings: they are served very crispy and with a generous amount of sauce. Pair it with the roasted cambray potatoes, which come with a touch of parmesan and a spicy dressing.
If you love cheese, you have to try their mac and cheese: the portion is very generous and you can feel the blend of cheeses and butter in every bite. As for their specialties, give the sausage sampler and the imported brisket sandwich or short rib sandwich a chance. The meat melts in your mouth, it’s very juicy, and it’s basically a little piece of heaven.
And that’s not all, because even though they are experts in smoked dishes, their desserts and drinks are a delight. Order the strawberries with cream that come with a walnut crumble and an affogato with pistachio ice cream. Visiting Ahumados Pelican is a glorious experience!

Marquesitas Bike
If you're near the Alameda of
CDMX and crave some marquesitas, you have to try Marquesitas Bike. We ordered two: one savory and one sweet. The savory one had smoked turkey breast, habanero jam, and of course, the classic
queso de bola that cannot be missed. The sweet one had cajeta, walnut, and banana.
When we tried them, we realized something: their texture is crunchier than that of regular
marquesitas and the flavor of their jams is on another level because they are artisanal. So, if you decide to go, let us know which one you ordered and what you thought.
Their price range is between $50 and $120 pesos.

Trying, trying: our favorites of the month!Flor de Caña Experience
In the heart of Polanquito, almost in a speakeasy style, is the
Flor de Caña Experience; a multisensory space where you can learn about the history behind this
rum from Nicaragua. For 45 minutes, you will use all your senses to taste a sensory menu that will transport you through a mountain of flavors, textures, aromas, and colors. Your experience doesn’t end there because you will learn to serve a glass of Flor de Caña rum straight from the barrel and show off your chemistry skills by creating a unique blend to take home a one-of-a-kind bottle as a souvenir of your experience.
In the tasting, the offerings rotate. Mine included a menu of
Nicaraguan food with typical dishes and ingredients from the region.
If, like Bad Bunny, you are a rum lover and want to create your own blend, then this experience is for you.

Lo de Julio
I tried the best
sandwich in the county here! A while ago, I went to a food festival and tried a fried mortadella milanesa sandwich with cheese, goat cheese, and cherry tomatoes sautéed with garlic and olive oil, and let me tell you, it was off the charts.
It was from the restaurant Lo de Julio, so I set out to find its location and was pleasantly surprised by the relationship between quality, flavor, and price. This place belongs to
Chef Edgar Delgado and offers an interesting variety of labels and vermouth-based cocktails, ideal for pairing with their selection of sandwiches. Take advantage of the weekend and visit them.
