Its name is a combination of rum and horchata, and this drink is designed to taste like a mix of the two. It has an alcohol content of 13.75% to 15% by volume, depending on where it is marketed.
This delicious ingredient can be perfect for making holiday drinks like hot chocolate, eggnog, or punch, but also for adding flavor to certain desserts. For example, cupcakes or a cheesecake.
How to use rum cream this DecemberTo make eggnog with rum cream, you need:
- 5 egg yolks
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- 2 cups of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 3/4 cup of heavy cream
- 1 cup of rum cream
To prepare it, first, you need to whisk the egg yolks with the sugar in a large saucepan. Add the milk, nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla, and turn on the heat to medium-low. Cook for 10 minutes or until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, but do not let it boil. Remove from heat, add the heavy cream, the rum cream, and refrigerate until cold.
