The 4 cheapest supermarkets in all of Mexico

The Profeco is the federal agency responsible for consumer rights, so it always keeps us informed about the best and worst products on the market, as well as the cheapest and most expensive stores and gas stations.  

This 2025, Profeco has been publishing the cheapest supermarkets across the country, divided by regions. So you don't have to read the entire study, here we provide you with the list of the cheapest stores by area. Take note and save! 

Central Zone

The central zone includes Mexico City, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, and Tlaxcala.

• The cheapest supermarket: Chedraui Selecto located in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico.  

This supermarket is the cheapest for your basic basket shopping, costing around $737.10 pesos. 

Honorable mentions:

• Chedraui in León, Guanajuato - $750 pesos 
• Bodega Aurrera in Cuernavaca, Morelos - $752.30 pesos

Central North Zone

This area includes Baja California Sur, Aguascalientes, Durango, Jalisco, Michoacán, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, and Zacatecas.

• The cheapest supermarket: Bodega Aurrera in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

Buying your basic basket in this supermarket will cost you about $765.90 pesos.
