This rich recipe is typical in Mexico City. They are called gorditas de la villa because their origin comes from the surroundings of Villa de Guadalupe. They are also known as atrium gorditas, since they are very popular at the moment of leaving the churches, adorned with colorful Chinese paper.

The Gorditas are made with flour for tamale and a touch of sugar. They are cooked to the comal, so they have a little bit of flavor that makes them delicious.
