This Italian liquor from the Amalfi Coast is delicious served only with ice. It can also be served as a martini, mixed with sparkling wine. It takes two weeks to develop its delicious lemon flavor in vodka.

Ingredients

10 portions
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups Water
  • 4 cups vodka
  • 1/2 cups lemon zest, (like 7 yellow lemons)

Preparation

Mix the vodka and the lemon zest in a bowl. Cover and leave at room temperature for 2 weeks.
Pass the vodka mixture through a colander and discard the lemon zest.
Mix 3 cups of water and sugar in a large skillet. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and allow to cool until it is at room temperature. Add the vodka to the mix.
Divide the limoncello in 3 (sterilized) 750 ml bottles and close tightly.
Serve it in a glass with ice or in a martini glass mixed with sparkling wine.

TIPS

It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 year.
