Shrimp Croquettes with Habanero Sauce

You will not have to worry about finding places that sell canapés anymore. With these shrimp croquettes with Habanero sauce you can make your own canapés and they will be delicious. These crunchy snacks are perfect to place in a platter and go past them around as a snack, before your Christmas Dinner. Change the traditional Christmas flavors and cook these croquettes with Habanero sauce, the secret is in making the sauce well and making them very crispy. 4 portions
  • 2 cups cheap shrimp, in medium sized pieces
  • 1 potato, cooked and in small cubes
  • 1/4 cups parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cups ground bread
  • enough salt
  • enough black pepper
  • 1 cup cream cheese, in cubes
  • enough flour, to bread
  • enough egg, to bread
  • enough cornflakes, to bread
  • enough oil, to fry
  • 2 habanero peppers, for the sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, for the sauce
  • 1/4 onions, for the sauce
  • 1 cup evaporated milk, for the sauce
  • 1 cup cream cheese, for the sauce
  • 1/2 cups fresh coriander, for the sauce
  • enough salt
  • enough black pepper
  • enough fresh coriander, to decorate

In a bowl, mix the shrimp with the potato, the Parmesan cheese, the garlic, the onion, the egg, the bread crumbs, salt, and pepper, and form the balls with your hands. Place a cube of cream cheese in the center and finish shaping them.
Pass the croquettes through flour, egg and corn flakes.
In a pot with hot oil, fry the coquettes until browned and drain on absorbent paper to remove excess fat.
For the sauce, roast the chiles, the onion and the garlic in a comal. Blend with evaporated milk, cream cheese and cilantro.
In a pot cook the sauce for 10 minutes or until thick, season with salt and pepper.
Serve on a think layer of mirror and place the croquettes. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and enjoy.


Serve in a slightly deep dish, with the sauce and garnish with fresh cilantro.


Freeze your croquettes before frying so they don't lose their shape.
