Mother's Day is approaching, a very special celebration to share with the person who gave you life. Besides pampering her with delicious food prepared by ourselves, an incredible way to spend a day together is to create a homemade SPA to relax her and leave her beautiful.
Transforming your home into a SPA is an excellent option because it's comfortable, economical, and within your most intimate space; a perfect excuse to be with her, take care of her, and catch up.
To do this, don’t forget to create an appropriate atmosphere to start relaxing; you can light some candles and burn some incense to get into a good mood and offer her a glass of wine or a relaxing tea.
Like in a real SPA, you can start with an exfoliation to remove dead skin cells so that the treatments penetrate better. Here are some recipes for homemade exfoliants you can make with natural ingredients:
Facial Exfoliant
-Coffee
Add a little ground coffee to a face cream. Moisturize your face and make circular movements. Rinse with warm water.
-Milk and Oat Exfoliant
Mix well 2 tablespoons of powdered milk, half a cup of ground oats, and a teaspoon of cornstarch. Gradually add water until a paste is formed. Let the mixture rest for a minute. Apply it to the face and neck with a massage. Rinse with water.
-Natural Brown Sugar Exfoliant
Mix a little brown sugar with cleansing cream. With a damp face, apply the mixture using circular motions. Rinse with warm water.
Face Masks
Before starting with the masks, we recommend purifying the face with steam; you just need pots of hot water. You should lean your face over the pot, with a towel covering your head, to allow the steam to open the pores and make the treatments more effective.
Now, it's time to apply facial masks, and homemade ones will do wonders. Here are some that you can make for any skin type:
-Avocado and Almond Oil Mask
Use half a ripe avocado, mash it with a fork and add two teaspoons of almond oil. You can substitute almond oil with mineral oil (baby oil), as it is an excellent moisturizer. Apply it all over the “face” and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
-Coconut and Olive Oil Mask
Mix two tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil with one tablespoon of olive oil. Spread it over the face and let it sit for 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water. This mask hydrates and cleans the pores.
-Papaya Mask
Cut a slice of papaya and remove the seeds. Gently rub the papaya on your face, focusing on the lines around the eyes and mouth. Let it dry for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. The enzymes in this fruit help repair sun damage, hydrate expression lines, reducing them, and will make your complexion and your mom’s look radiant.
The masks are a very effective treatment and are not exclusive to the face; here are some treatments you can do for mom:
-Mayonnaise Hair Mask
Mayonnaise is a natural conditioner that softens and adds shine to hair.
You need to mix one cup of mayonnaise, half a cup of olive oil, and 3 egg yolks, apply it to the hair, leave it for 20 minutes, and then rinse.
-Yogurt Hand Mask
Yogurt is a rich source of lactic acid, which acts as a natural cleanser and exfoliant to eliminate dead cells. To use it, take a tablespoon of natural yogurt and apply it to your hands, making circular massages for five minutes, and then rinse.
-Hydrating Oat Mask for Feet
This mask is ideal for cracked feet. Before starting, soak your feet in warm water with baking soda for 10 minutes, then exfoliate with sugar and apply the following mixture: 2 cups of oats, 1 cup of flour, half a cup of honey, and half a cup of olive oil. Let it rest for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. Finally, apply moisturizing cream.
Make sure to have everything you need beforehand so you won’t have to search for it at the last minute. And let’s get to work! Dedicate an entire day to make your mom feel everything she means to you.
