  The mandarin or tangerine is considered one of the most popular citrus fruits in the world. It has a pleasant sweetness and soft pulp. The mandarin contains oxalic acid found in its pulp, combined with the pectins from the peel, which become a remedy that eliminates lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium present in the blood. This small and aromatic fruit is rich in nutritious properties, making each segment a bite of health. The mandarin is composed mainly of water (88%), has a low sugar content, and provides a low caloric intake (approximately 37 calories per 100 grams). It is a good source of vitamin C, although it contains less than other citrus fruits. It is also an important source of folic acid and beta-carotene (provitamin A), a plant pigment that gives it its beautiful orange color and, once ingested, transforms into vitamin A in the body, benefiting vision, bones, and the immune system. This nutritious fruit also contains notable amounts of citric acid, magnesium, and potassium, and in smaller amounts, calcium and some B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6).
