How to make flour tortillas step by step

Ingredients
  • 250 grams of wheat flour
  • 63 grams of lard
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
Instructions
  1. Place the wheat flour, salt, lard, and baking powder in a bowl.
  2. Mix the ingredients and start adding water gradually until you obtain a very smooth dough.
  3. Let the flour tortilla dough rest for about 20 minutes.
  4. Divide the dough into at least 14 portions of the same size.
  5. Take the dough portions and roll them into balls with your hands.
  6. Place the dough ball on a floured surface and roll it out using a rolling pin until the tortilla is the desired size and thickness.
  7. Heat a griddle over medium heat and cook each tortilla for one minute on each side. Remember that flour tortillas should puff up.
  8. Remove from the griddle and place on a cloth napkin, but do not stack them, as the tortillas may stick together while hot.
