10 Habits That Could Cause Cellulite

Does the cellulite on your legs prevent you from feeling comfortable in your swimsuit? Don’t worry! There are many remedies that can help you get rid of orange peel skin, but before you get started, you should know what cellulite actually is and the reasons it appears.

Cellulite is the accumulation of fat in the form of cavities just beneath the surface of the skin. It is most commonly found in areas such as the thighs, hips, and buttocks, but it can also occur in the abdominal area and arms.

The causes of cellulite are numerous. Genetic factors, hormonal changes, and the use of certain medications can contribute to the appearance of orange peel skin. But that’s not all. There are some habits that, although they may seem irrelevant to skin care, could be causing your cellulite.

Here are the most common causes of cellulite:

Staying in the same position for long periods
Standing or sitting for extended periods affects circulation in the legs. This, in addition to causing varicose veins, can promote the appearance of cellulite. Try to change your posture frequently and walk every day.

Poor diet
Processed foods and refined sugar make it harder for the body to eliminate toxins. So, if you eat a lot of junk food, toxins begin to accumulate, leading to orange peel skin.

Not drinking enough water
Our body is mostly made up of water, so when we don’t drink enough water (at least two liters a day), the skin weakens, and fat cells do not metabolize properly.

Wearing very tight clothing
Tight pants prevent blood from circulating properly in the legs, meaning the thighs, hips, and buttocks do not receive enough oxygen. This leads to the accumulation of toxins and the development of cellulite.

Smoking and drinking alcohol excessively
People who smoke are more likely to develop cellulite due to the lack of oxygenation and toxins entering the body through tobacco smoke. Alcohol has a similar effect. Excessive consumption increases the presence of fatty acids and toxins, resulting in less smooth skin.

Having a sedentary lifestyle
Lack of physical activity also influences skin appearance. If you never exercise, you are more likely to develop orange peel skin sooner or later, or its appearance may worsen if you already have it.

Following very strict diets
Diet plans focusing on losing a lot of weight in a short time often lead the body to feed on muscle and store more fat. This promotes the formation of cellulite.

Eating too much salt
Salt has many health benefits, but when consumed excessively, it can cause harm to the body. One of its main negative effects is dehydration, which leads to cellulite.

Drinking too much coffee
While it is true that caffeine-based products or coffee scrubs can help improve skin appearance, drinking too much coffee causes toxins to accumulate beneath the skin, so monitor your daily intake.

Having high-stress levels
Constantly being under high-pressure situations causes the body to produce more cortisol. This hormone, besides preparing us to face stressful moments, increases fat deposits in the body.
