Ingredients

20 portions
  • 300 milliliters whole milk, at room temperature
  • 30 grams dry yeast
  • 60 grams sugar
  • 1 kilo wheat flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 125 grams butter, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 180ºC (360ºF).
In a deep bowl, mix milk with yeast and sugar. Add the sifted flour, 4 eggs, the butter and finally the salt.
Mix well and knead on a firm surface, for at least 10 minutes, until a very soft and elastic dough is obtained. Let this dough rest in a deep container, covered with a damp cloth and in a warm place, where it does not give air drafts. The dough should double its initial volume (approximately 45 minutes, depending on humidity and temperature).
Once the mass has grown as indicated, go back to the surface and form small balls in the palm of your hand. Let the balls rest, uncovered on a baking sheet, until they double again.
In a bowl, lightly beat the remaining egg and varnish each ball of dough. If you like, sprinkle some sesame. Bake 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
Remove, let cool and serve.
