This dessert of chayotes with chocolate sauce is very popular in venezuela, it is something different but its flavor will conquer you. The chayotes have a sweet flavor that combines very well with the semi-bitter chocolate. Test it.

Ingredients

8 portions
  • 4 cups Water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 chayotes, peeled
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate
  • 1/3 cups milk
  • 2 cups pineapple, Crushed
  • 3 teaspoons grated coconut
  • 3 tablespoons pecan nut, chopped

Preparation

Heat, over medium-high heat and stirring frequently, water and sugar in a saucepan until the sugar dissolves completely. Reduce the fire to medium-low. Add the chayotes; partially cover the pan. Cook the chayotes for 30 minutes or until they are tender, stirring every 10 minutes. Remove the chayotes from the liquid; Discard the latter. Cut them in two along.
Place the chocolate in a small microwave-safe bowl. Add the milk. Heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir the chocolate until it melts completely.
Place 1/4 cup of pineapple in each of eight plates; Sprinkle 1 teaspoon coconut, approximately. Cover this with the chayote halves; Sprinkle the desserts evenly with the chocolate sauce. Sprinkle with pecans.
