Are you a big fan of apple desserts that you can prepare anything to satisfy a craving? We challenge you to prepare this Apple Croustade made with phyllo dough and glazed with butter. The most delicious part of this Apple Croustade is that the apples in the filling are macerated with rum for an entire night. A great tip for this apple dessert is to put butter between each layer so it will be very crispy. Do not forget to serve with vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients

8 portions
  • 4 apples
  • 1/2 cups rum, spiced
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 300 grams phyllo dough
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup sugar, to sprinkle
  • enough powdered sugar, to sprinkle
  • enough peppermint

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 190 ° C (374F)
Peel the apples, cut very thin slices and mix in a bowl with the spiced rum, cinnamon and cardamom. Macerate for 2 hours in the fridge.
On a board place the phyllo dough pastry, varnish each sheet with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar.
In a pastry ring of approximately 5 cm in diameter, lay 3 phyllo sheets and stuff with apples. Cover with more phyllo dough and with your hand make wrinkles and shape around it. Freeze 20 minutes.
Bake the croustades for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and decorate with icing sugar and fresh mint.

PRESENTATION

On a plate, decorated with mint and accompanied with coffee.

TIPS

The butter between each layer helps us to get a very crunchy dessert. If you want a more concentrated flavor of rum, you can let the apples macerate all night. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
