This strudel is made in a very special way like a jam-filled tart, a delicious dough, full of flavor, which contrasts perfectly with the filling.

Ingredients

8 portions
  • 2 1/2 cups butter, at room temperature, 270 g
  • 1 cup sugar, 200 g
  • 2 egg yolks, cooked
  • 4 tablespoons cinnamon powder, 15 g
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cups flour, 330 g
  • 1 cup almond flour, 60 g
  • enough Smuckers® strawberry jam
  • enough egg white
  • to taste brown sugar, to decorate

Preparation

In a container or bowl, mix the butter and the sugar with the help of a spatula, add the yolks and incorporate perfectly until they melt into the butter, add the cinnamon powder, the lemon zest and the almond extract; Add the flour and almond flour, you can use a strainer or have previously sifted it, add little by little with the spatula until perfectly integrated.
Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Once the dough is cold, work a little with your hands so that you can handle it again, stretch with the help of a rolling pin with a little flour on the surface so that it does not stick, remember not to manipulate too much so as not to heat it and it breaks. Reserve a little batter to cover the cake.
Arrange the dough base in a previously greased pie tin and fill the pie with Smuckers® Strawberry Jam; With the part of the dough that you reserved, cut 1.5 cm wide strips and arrange the strips in the form of a net on the cake, glaze with egg white so that they stick together, sprinkle with brown sugar.
Preheat the oven to 170 ° C.
Bake the cake for 40 or 45 min, until it is golden brown.
Chill the cake, unmold and serve, you can accompany with the drink of your choice.
