Preparation
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Prepare six 3/4 cup molds and place on a large baking dish.
In a medium saucepan over low heat combine the whipping cream, the whole milk, the cream and the piece of vanilla.
Let the creams boil, cover the saucepan, remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes. Remove the piece of vanilla.
Pour the custard into the 6 molds. In the baking dish put water until it covers half of the cream molds.
Bake the custard for 35 minutes, remove from the oven and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Pre-heat the broiler in your oven. Sprinkle custard with 9 tablespoons of sugar. Bake for about 3 minutes or until the sugar has melted.
