Prepare this rich creamy white wine pasta with squid, mushrooms, spinach and of course a bit of Parmesan cheese to finish. Accompany with slices of crusty bread and enjoy with your family.

  • 500 grams fettuccine
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons Great Value® wheat flour
  • 1 cup white wine
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Great Value®
  • 1 cup manchego cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Great Value® salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons Extra Special Olive Oil®
  • 2 cups squid, in hoops
  • 1 can Whole Mushrooms in Great Value® Brine
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • 2 pinches Great Value® salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 4 tablespoons parmesan cheese, grated


In a pot with boiling water and salt, cook the fettuccine until it is al dente, drain and reserve.
In a small pot over medium heat, melt the butter and add the flour at once. Cook a few minutes and add the white wine. It integrates very well with the help of a balloon whisk.
Add the milk and continue cooking without stopping to move, about 5 to 10 minutes. Add the cheese and cook until it melts completely. Season with salt, pepper and a touch of nutmeg. Reservation.
In a deep frying pan over medium heat, heat the olive oil and fry the squid. Add the mushrooms and spinach and cook until the liquid is reduced.
Add the pasta and the sauce and mix very well. Cook 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and serve with Parmesan cheese.
