A couple of days ago,
Pennsylvania State University published a press release explaining that a group of experts from various universities found that eating
avocado regularly could have an incredible effect on health.
The study showed that after consuming one avocado a day for 6 months, participants had lower levels of
cholesterol: “Incorporating one avocado a day in this study did not cause weight gain, but did cause a slight reduction in LDL cholesterol, which are important findings for better health,” according to the university experts, who also mentioned that “while avocados did not affect abdominal fat or weight, the study shows that they can be a beneficial addition to a
balanced diet.”
On the other hand, expert Kristina Petersen explained that the study found that “the results suggest that eating an avocado can significantly improve the quality of
nutrition,” and added that “this is important because we know that a better quality diet is related to a lower risk of various diseases such as heart disease,
type 2 diabetes and some types of cancer.”

The prestigious university involved more than 1,000 people who were obese or overweight. Half of the participants had to
eat one avocado a day, while the other half would consume less than 2 avocados per month:
“Although consuming one avocado a day did not lead to significant clinical improvements in abdominal fat and other cardiometabolic risk factors, consuming one avocado a day did not result in weight gain,” according to professor Joan Sabaté, who also explained that “this is positive because eating extra calories through avocado did not impact weight or abdominal fat, while slightly reducing total cholesterol and
LDL cholesterol.”
