  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose, divided use
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 2 tablespoons Rum
  • 1/4 cups butter, softened
  • 3 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cups evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


To prepare the cake: PREHEAT the oven to 350º F. Grease a mold with a 9-inch central tube (10 cups) and roll it with 3 tbsp.
CLOSE the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Stir the butter in a mixing bowl until creamy. Add the brown sugar little by little and continue stirring until the butter has a light and loose consistency, which will take 4 to 5 minutes. Add the eggs one by one, beating them well each time you add another. Gradually add the flour mixture alternating with 1 cup of evaporated milk. Incorporate the rum, stirring it only until it is mixed. Use a spoon and pour the smoothie into the mold you prepared.
BAKE the batter for 55 to 60 minutes or until a knife is inserted in the center, it comes out clean. Let the mold finish cooling on a metal grid. Roll it over a plate. Sprinkle Carnation Coating over and over the sides after it cools. Decorate it with guava casquitos, to wish it that way. Keep it in the refrigerator.
TO PREPARE COVERAGE CARNATION Stir butter and powdered sugar into large mixing bowl until creamy. Add 1/4 cup of evaporated milk and vanilla extract; Stir them until you get a homogeneous consistency. Makes 2 cups.
NOTE: A ribbed mold with a Bundt-type central tube with a capacity of 10 cups can also be used. Follow the recipe steps and bake the smoothie for 50 to 55 minutes.
