Preheat the oven to 180 °C In a bowl, sift the flour with the salt, baking powder, and nutmeg. Set aside. Beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy at medium-high speed. With low speed, add the beaten egg in two or three additions until fully incorporated. Add the vanilla extract. Gradually add the flour while mixing until the dough pulls away from the sides. Mix the tablespoon of sugar with the teaspoon of cinnamon well. Form walnut-sized balls with the dough and roll them in the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Place on a baking sheet, spaced about 3 cm apart. Gently flatten the cookies with your hand. Bake for 15 minutes or until the edges are firm. Remove from the oven and let rest for a couple of minutes on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
