Heat the water and when it boils, add the spaghetti with the oil and salt. Drain very well. In a hot skillet, add the bacon and fry until lightly browned; add the garlic, onion, and shrimp for 5 minutes or until cooked. Add the cognac and flambé the shrimp. Add the pasta and butter, mix until combined and cook for 3 more minutes.
