Flour tortillas in Mexico are very popular and indispensable in gastronomy, mainly in the northern part of the country. Ideal to make a taquito of chili with cheese or roast beef, we leave you this recipe of homemade flour tortillas with only 5 ingredients.

  • 250 grams wheat flour
  • 63 grams lard
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup Water, approximately


For the dough, in a bowl mix the wheat flour with the lard, the salt, the baking powder and add the water little by little, until forming a smooth mass. Rest the dough around 20 minutes.
Cut the tortilla dough into equal portions and form balls with your hands.
With the help of a floured rolling pin, spread the ball until it forms a thin tortilla.
Heat a comal over medium heat and cook the tortilla 1 minute on each side. Cook the tortilla until it inflates, remove it from the comal and enjoy it warmly.


Serve the tortilla in a "tortillero" or in a napkin so that it does not get cold and use it with all kinds of stews.


Remember that whenever you make a dough the water is absorbed according to how the dough needs it, do not pour out the water at once, pour the water little by little as your dough asks for it.

Muy decepcionada seguí la receta a pie de la letra en medidas americanas, y no tradujeron las pociones correctamente y salieron muy mal!
