  • 2 cups wheat flour, 1/4 kilo
  • 2 cups Water, warm or hot (approximately, varies according to flour)
  • 1 tablespoon lard, melted (or more if you taste a more intense flavor)


Put the flour in a large bowl and add the warm water and butter. Knead well with your hands until a ball forms that does not stick. Cover with a cloth and let stand for 5 to 10 minutes.
Heat a griddle or iron pan. Knead between 2-3 minutes, and then form balls the size of a large walnut.
Cover a tortilla press with a plastic and place a dough ball in the center. Place another plastic on top, lower the lid of the presser and press with the handle. The tortilla that is formed must measure between 12 and 15 cm in diameter.
Open the tortilla presser and lift the plastic from the top of the tortilla. Take the tortilla with the plastic below and turn it over the hand. Remove the plastic and place the tortilla on the hot griddle. Be careful not to move the tortilla over the comal or pan because it could get air, and prevent proper cooking.
As soon as the edges of the tortilla begin to dry, after about 20 seconds, turn it over. Cook the other side for 15 to 20 seconds and turn the tortilla over again. After 15 more seconds, remove the tortilla from the comal and place it in a clean cloth that covers it


They leave between 8 and 10 tortillas.

Es demasiada agua la que te indica la receta. Yo solo necesité 1/2 taza de agua.
