The Mango Sticky Rice (Mango con Arroz con Leche de Coco) is a typical Thai dessert recipe, very similar to a rice pudding but it has coconut milk and mango.

  • 3 cups Sweet rice, soaked in water or coconut milk for 1 night
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 mangos


Cook the steamed rice until it is soft.
Meanwhile, put the coconut milk in a large pot over medium heat until it is hot (not boiling). Add the sugar and salt and stir until completely dissolved.
When the rice is ready, take it out of the pot and put it in a bowl. Bathe with 1 cup of warm coconut milk. Reserve the rest of the coconut milk. Mix and stir the liquid and rice and let stand between 20 minutes to 1 hour so that the flavors are incorporated.
Peel and cut the mangoes into strips.
To serve put some rice on each plate and serve with half mango on the side. Decorate with a sprig of mint. Also serve the remaining coconut sauce on a plate so that each person can serve more if desired.


If you can not find the sweet rice, normal rice also works.
