The
World Cup 2022 is just around the corner, as the
football tournaments will kick off next Sunday, November 20. Besides being a great opportunity to enjoy exciting matches, it’s also the perfect excuse to travel and celebrate, but in the case of this Middle Eastern country, there are some restrictions.
As you may already know, this is the first time a
Muslim country will host the World Cup, so there are a series of restrictions you should keep in mind if you're planning to visit. Here we tell you whether you can drink beer and alcohol at the World Cup and what things are prohibited.

Qatar is an Islamic and conservative country, there is good news for football fans, as on its official page,
FIFA confirmed that the consumption of
alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the stadium.
It should be clarified that, while the consumption of alcohol and intoxicating drinks will be allowed during the
World Cup, it will be restricted to specific areas.
Additionally, the
BBC reports that there will be a special area for football fans in the city of Doha, with a capacity for 40,000 people, where alcoholic
beverages can be purchased.
Nasser Al Khater, president of the organizing committee for the
World Cup 2022, told the BBC that attendees will be able to drink alcohol in the stadium perimeter, but once inside, they can only purchase non-alcoholic beverages. Fans will be able to buy beer and other alcoholic drinks in Al Bidda Park after 6:30 pm. Al Khater also emphasized that these types of drinks will not be available on the streets and that drinkers must stay in designated drinking areas.

government of Qatar, before visiting the country during the
football cup, you should take the following into account:

Alcoholic beverages “Drinking alcohol in public is not allowed, and alcoholic beverages cannot enter through the airport. However, drinking alcohol inside homes or hotels is permitted. The law punishes being in public under the influence of alcohol and causing disturbances.”
2.
Clothing “Qatar is a conservative Islamic society, so whether you are a man or a woman, it is best to wear modest clothing in public places such as markets and malls. Women are not required to cover their hair in public, but they must do so when visiting mosques.”
3.
Drugs The use of drugs and antibiotics without a prescription is prohibited in Qatar.
4.
Greetings People greet those of the same sex with a handshake, while greeting members of the opposite sex without physical contact.
5.
Shoes You must remove your shoes when entering a mosque or a home.
6.
Photography It is prohibited to record or photograph military personnel and other individuals without their consent.
