When we talk about
Mexican wines, we know that there are more and more high-quality options on the market. Wineries such as Monte Xanic, Casa Madero, and Château Camou, among others, have become worldwide references for the excellence of Mexican wines. It is worth noting that in 2022, Mexican wines were awarded 71 medals during the
Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the most important wine competitions globally.
Thanks to their high quality, it is no surprise that in 2023, Mexico will dedicate a national day to Mexican wine, as announced by the federal government, the Provino Baja California Committee, and the Mexican Wine Council.
So don’t forget to mark this date on your calendar, as from now on, Mexicans will celebrate
October 7 as
Mexican Wine Day, cheers!

press release, federal authorities highlight that “Mexican viticulture has gained ground worldwide and, in the last three years, has averaged 500 medals per year,” but the importance of the industry doesn't end there, as it has a significant impact on the local economy: "The wine sector represents a development engine and is the second source of jobs in the Mexican agricultural sector, with more than 500,000 jobs, as revealed at the 43rd World Congress of Vine and Wine."
On the other hand, besides being a significant economic engine at the national level,
Mexican wine also has great potential to become the new favorite drink of Mexicans, as our country produces “almost four million boxes of wine annually, in the 15 wine-producing states.”
The press release highlights that “Mexico has a wide variety of wines to taste: Merlot, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc from
Baja California; Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from
Guanajuato; Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from
Querétaro, among others.”
