To accompany any afternoon of coffee, dinner or breakfast, a delicious and fluffy bread is the best option. Prepare this recipe for homemade biscuits with butter and a touch of cream cheese that give the dough an unmatched consistency.

Remember that for this recipe of Homemade Biscuits you must fold the dough so that when baking, you create the "classic"crackle look of home made biscuits

  • 5 cups flour, 600 grams (21 oz)
  • 5 tablespoons dry yeast, 5 grams (0.17 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, 100 grams (3.5 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon salt, 5 grams (0.17 oz)
  • 2/3 cups vegetable shortening, cut into cubes, 125 grams (4.4 oz)
  • 2/3 cups butter, cut into cubes, 125 grams (4.4 oz)
  • 1/2 cups cream cheese, 100 grams (3.5 oz)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup milk, 250 milliliters (8.4 oz)
  • enough flour, to extend
  • enough egg yolk, to glaze


Preheat the oven to 170°C. (338°F)
On a clean surface, form a cone with the flour and place the dry yeast, baking powder, powdered sugar and salt. Mix well and add the butter, butter and cream cheese. scrape the butter and butter dough mixture until you get a sand consistency
Add one by one the eggs and milk, without kneading too much, just so the ingredients are incorporated, and the dough is not elastic.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes before using it, so it's easier to handle it.
On a floured surface, spread the dough in a rectangle. Mark the surface with your fingers and fold it into a book shape.Let stand 3 minutes and roll and extend again until a thickness of 5 mm. (o.2 inch)
Using a round biscuit cutter 8 cm in diameter (3 inches) , cut the biscuits and place them on a baking tray previously greased and floured.
With a smaller round cutter, mark the center of the biscuits to give them the traditional shape. Garnish with yolk and let them rest for 20 minutes.
Glaze again the surface of the biscuits and bake about 15 minutes or until cooked. Chill and serve with jam.


On a basket, accompanied by butter and homemade strawberry jam.


The dough will be sticky once you integrate it. Don't worry, after resting in the refrigerator it will become manageable. The folding of the dough will make the "classic" crackle look o of biscuits when baked.

Muy buena receta, pero yo los llamaría scones. Los bisquets tradicionalmente no son tan dulces.
