The capirotada is a typical Mexican dessert, made with golden bread dipped in a delicious and aromatic honey of piloncillo, cinnamon and anise, accompanied by peanuts, raisins and aged cheese. It is completely delicious!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups of Water
  • 1 piece of piloncillo
  • 1 piece of cinnamon slit
  • 1 piece of star anise
  • 1 Cup of oil
  • 5 pieces of bread cut into slices
  • 3/4 of Cup of peanut toasted
  • 3/4 of Cup of raisin
  • 1 Cup of old cheese fallen apart

    Preparation

    Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
    In a pot over medium heat heat the water with brown sugar, cinnamon, and anise. Let it boil and cook for 10 minutes or until a thick syrup is made. Reservation.
    In a deep pan, heat the oil over medium heat and fry each slice of bread until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper and reserve.
    Place on a refractory place slices of bread, bathe with brown sugar, add peanuts, raisins, and aged cheese, repeat the process until you have two layers.
    Bake for 15 minutes. Let it cool.
    Accompany with a cup of hot coffee and more honey.
