Mainly for this recipe, you need dried chiltepin or chile piquin. For a sauce with a lot of flavor, we need the chiles to be heated. Use a pan or a comal and toast them until they change color and become a bit brown. I recommend doing it over low heat to avoid burning them. Set aside. In the same pan, roast a couple of tomatoes; if you use "bola" tomatoes, you will only need one. Now grind the chiles and tomatoes along with the garlic. Pour the mixture into a plate or a sauce dish and add salt; stir before serving.
